Michela & Dave | Wedding Photography Nash Point Lighthouse
Michela and Dave got married on 24th June 2016 at Nash Point Lighthouse in Marcross, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. The Lighthouse is is an iconic 19th century, grade 2 listed, historic building and was the last manned lighthouse in Wales. It is the only working lighthouse, within the entire British Isles, which has been a licensed premises for holding Weddings and Civil Partnerships. It is my pleasure to be one of the recommended wedding photographers at Nash Point Lighthouse and love the quirkiness of this individual wedding venue.
David first contacted me the previous year. Himself and Michela live and work in Munich, Germany so all communication regarding their wedding photography was held via Skype. I have shot weddings for many couples who live all over the world and its not always possible to meet up so using Skype of Factime is a great alternative. Eventually I got to meet this lovely couple in Cardiff in Feb earlier this year to go through their wedding details. The wedding ceremony was held at the Lighthouse with Dave’s welsh family and Michela’s Italian family – so I had to brush up on some of my Italian :-). The weather was kind to us on the day as sometimes you can get some very dramatic weather coming from the coast.
I captured some nice natural wedding photos of family and friends in and around the lighthouse and then we went for a walk along the cliffs for some great dramatic portraits of the happy couple. After we sampled the Italian and Welsh nibbles we headed off to the Plough & Harrow, a public house situated in Monknash in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. With a warm welcoming atmosphere, the finest real ales and excellent freshly-cooked food what more can you ask for. We had Fish and Chips, great Ale and even better company. Once the food was eaten and the speeches completed we then drove to a very contrasting venue to the pub which was Cardiff Castle.
Cardiff Castle is one of the most exclusive wedding venues in Wales. It is Located within beautiful parklands at the heart of the capital, Cardiff Castle’s walls and fairytale towers conceal 2,000 years of history. We had the honour of being able to use the beautiful rooms inside the castle for the wedding portraits. From the Arab Room to the Library everything is steeped in history and with so much splendour my creative juices were flowing.
I took Michela and Dave around the castle grounds for a few natural portraits before all the guests arrived for the evening party which was held at the Undercroft in the Castle. I have to say this has to be one my most chilled weddings I have attended and at the end of the day I felt part of the family. If you are getting married at Nash Point Lighthouse or even at Cardiff Castle and are looking for a wedding photographer who lets you enjoy your day but throws a little bit of creativity in then please get in touch.
