This is the first time I have photographed a wedding on New Years Eve. When I first met Stephen and Jess I knew this is one wedding I wanted to photograph. This Gatsby themed wedding was all about family and friends and it didn’t disappoint.
The day started of photographing the wedding preps at Jess’s home in Bridgend. This is a great time to meet some of the family before I start photographing the day. J and S’s two little girls were a bit camera shy but soon warmed once I started playing silly faces with them. It’s always important for everyone to feel relaxed with me and in front of the camera before I start shooting as it means I get to capture some natural and funny moments. Once all the details of the morning were captured I headed off the Cardiff Castle for the ceremony.
A Cardiff Castle wedding is always a special one. You are spoilt for choice with so many wonderful rooms and grounds to take photos in. The ceremony took place in the undercroft and the drinks reception held in the library and drawing room. All guests then headed off to the banqueting hall for a fabulous meal and speeches.
This was a late wedding in winter so I was unable to capture many photos in the grounds of the castle but was able to grab the happy couple for a quick photo outside before they went for their first dance. This wedding wasn’t just about the couple, it is was about celebrating their marriage with family and friends. Especially their 3 children who were a big part of their day.
I want to thank Jess and Stephen for putting their trust in me to photograph their wedding at Cardiff Castle. Check out the story of their day below and please get in touch if you are looking for a Cardiff Castle wedding photographer.
