“Modern meaning of elopement – it’s a celebration of love between two people, that often requires a fraction of the planning and budget of a traditional wedding.”
It was an honour and a pleasure to be asked to photograph an intimate elopement wedding in Bath. An elopement these day’s doesn’t mean running away or because your parents don’t approve. The new understanding of elopement is more accurately a couple travelling somewhere to legally get married, without telling or inviting any/many of their friends and family. It’s quicker, more informal and definitely romantic.
Because they want to get married in France next year they legally have to get married in the UK first. So they decided that whilst they were visiting the Bath Christmas Markets they would tie the knot, just the two of them, myself and the hotel concierge as witnesses (A first for me). The heavens opened up but this didn’t stop me capturing some beautiful and natural moments of them two of them enjoying the sites of Bath.
I love it when couples understand that a wedding is not about everyone else. It’s about the two of you. Doing what you want to do with the person you love. Get in touch if you are planning an elopement or something unique as I would love to document your story.
