Tara and Neil fell in love with Newquay and also fell in love with each other. On 8th Sep 2017 they got married at the Glendorgal Hotel in Newquay. This stunning venue overlooks the Atlantic Ocean on the North Cornwall coast. Dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, what else could I ask for, oh yes the sun
I drove down the night before and got a good night’s sleep before waking up and looking out the window to rain 🙁 – not what I wanted. As a wedding photographer you have to go with the flow and get those creative juices flowing. Nothing was going to spoil the day.
Still feeling optimistic I went to say hi to the Tara and Neil who were staying at the hotel. Tara and the bridesmaids were busy getting ready and Neil was already suited and booted and looked very smart in his blue suit and checked waistcoat. Tara had arranged a surprise for Neil and he was told to go outside the hotel and wait for it to arrive.
You could hear it before you saw it. A stunning american mustang made its way down the windy road and pulled up in front of the hotel. Neil’s face lit up like he was a boy again with a new toy. No it wasn’t for him to keep but a man can dream. A few photos were taken with him and the car before he was whisked away for a drive of a lifetime.
By the time Neil got back from his drive it was time to get married. The boys took their place in the ceremony room overlooking the bay. Tara was ready, the bridesmaids were ready and Lilly looked cute as a button. Tara walked down the aisle with a very proud dad on her arm and went to marry her best friend. The rain was on and off all day so every time the sun popped out we rushed outside for family pics or a few portraits. The sun wasn’t out for long but I was determined to get some dramatic pictures of Tara and Neil on this wonderful coastline and my wish came true.
After some funny and heartfelt speeches the sun came out and we were able to go for a walk onto the cliffs. Tara and Neil braved the strong winds and recreated a scene like it was from wuthering heights. I am so happy with the results and these pictures wouldn’t have been possible without such a wonderful couple. Once we To end off the night Neil and arranged a surprise for Tara. All the guests gathered outside and watched as fireworks lit the sky.
Well this was one amazing day and and adventure. Filled with sunshine, showers, muscle cars, love, laughter and fireworks in the sky. I look forward to shooting another Glendorgal Hotel wedding as it is such a beautiful venue. If you’re planning your wedding in Newquay and looking for a Cornwall wedding photographer then look no further. My bags are packed, my fuel tank is full and I’m ready to hit the road to capture your special day.
