Melissa and Dionisios got married at Craig Y Nos Castle in the Brecon Beacons in South Wales. Set on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, Craig Y Nos Castle is the perfect location for those seeking a romantic and rural setting for your wedding. This former home of Adelina Patti, the once world famous Opera Singer was the perfect venue for Mel & Dio’s wedding. Melissa is an actress and singer so there was already a strong connection but I also found out later that Adelina Patti grew up in the Bronx in New York City, the same place that Dio had grown up in. It’s very a small world.
Melissa & Dio are in to photography themselves. So when we had a chat they mentioned that they loved my cinematic landscape photographs and they visited Wales plenty of times for its beautiful landscapes. So this was music to my ears, an adventurous couple who appreciated photography. So this was no usual wedding day. Mel & Dio wanted a ‘first look’ shoot where they get to see each other before their ceremony. This also allowed more time for couple portraits of the two of them in the grounds of Crai Y Nos country park and in Brecon national park.
So they both got ready early in the morning and arranged to meet on the bridge in the country park. When Dio saw Mel for the first time, I’m not gonna a lie there were a few tears, of happiness of course. We had a small shoot in the park and then headed off for some amazing photos in the Brecon Beacons. I love adventurous couples and Mel was up for anything even climbing over a stile so we could some amazing landscape photos looking over the reservoir. What you don’t see in the photos is all the sheep shit on the floor. High five to you Mel. After the private photo session we headed back to the Castle for them to enjoy an intimate ceremony with close family and friends.
Now there is a wedding party and there is a WEDDING PARTY! This was an American/Greek/Jewish wedding so as you can expect and it was an honour for the first time to see how these guys celebrate. Being lifted on chairs by family and friends, Dio and groomsmen treating us to Greek dancing and all of the family and friends getting involved.
It was my absolute pleasure to be asked and be part of this American/Welsh wedding in South Wales. Enjoy the amazing highlights from their day and get in touch if you are after a Craig Y Nos wedding photographer.
A big thank you to all the other wedding suppliers who made their day possible:
